Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic

Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic is the longest established clinic in town and has been running for over 11 years.  The clinic was set-up by Becky Andrew D.C (Doctor of Chiropractic) who was looking to branch out on her own after working for Ian Hutchinson DC in Chelmsford.  Becky’s family all live in East Sussex so having found a premises that would work as a clinic, it got converted from a children’s nursery into the busy, thriving clinic it is today.

Becky’s desire to work with the body and help improve peoples health and mobility, came from having received chiropractic treatment herself as a sporty teenager with low back pain.

Dr Becky Andrew

Becky Andrew - BA, MSc, DC

Chiropractor & Owner of Uckfield and Hailsham Chiropractic Clinics

My interest in chiropractic started in 1991 when as a sports scholar I had to visit Richard Rummary (original owner of Hailsham CC), with severe low back pain and was amazed at how after only a few treatments, my mobility and pain improved hugely.

Having gone on a hockey scholarship to the USA to study Anthropology and African studies for 4 years, and spending lots of time in the training room, I knew I wanted to work with the body. So I decided to continue my studies back in the UK studying for a Master’s of Science in Chiropractic at the University of Surrey.

After working for Ian Hutchinson a Chiropractor in Chelmsford for 3 years, I decided to set up on my own nearer family and friends in Sussex. Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic was set up and opened in July 2006. The clinic in Uckfield has flourished and we now have a multi disciplinary team including two chiropractors.

In 2012 I expanded my business and purchased Hailsham Chiropractic Clinic, which is also multi disciplinary, with three Chiropractors. We also have x-ray facilities onsite, which is used by both clinics.

As a chiropractor I thoroughly enjoy treating generations of families. Having a strong background in high level sports, this is always of interest me helping people to perform to their optimum. Also being a parent has given me the impetus to undertake additional courses on chiropractic care during pregnancy. At the clinics we use a wide variety of chiropractic techniques depending on the patients needs - this includes Becky being an advanced level Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique practitioner.

I still enjoy playing and watching sport when I have the time, most of it now taken up by my two young sons who love having treatments and have their own toy activators to perform treatments on family!

Gemma Crouch DC

Gemma loves treating people of all ages and stages of life; however her special chiropractic interest is helping pregnant omen and children. She had taken up extra reading and seminars to develop her skills in this area.

Gemma was always keen on sports and interested in the human body, so decided to take her first degree in Sports and Exercise Science. She graduated from the University of Bath before moving to Bournemouth where she did a Master’s degree in Chiropractic at Anglo-European Chiropractic College (AECC). Gemma still loves running and hockey.

John Hawes - BSc (Hons) PGCert MChS

I have many years experience of podiatry in both the private and public sectors. I have worked as an associate podiatrist in clinics in Brighton and Lewes, and still work for Sussex Community NHS Trust in a specialist role. I have a keen interest in biomechanics and all aspects of musculoskeletal podiatry, building on a background in mechanical engineering (which he studied prior to podiatry).

Katie Beckett

I joined Uckfield Chiropractic Clinic on a temporary basis as a receptionist when it first opened in July 2006 – 14 years later I am still here on a part-time basis! I have two sons who are very active and use all the services provided here at the clinic. Its a great, friendly place to work.

Mike Churchyard

Sports Massage Therapist

Mike retired recently from the Police after 30 years in service. Loving nothing more than pushing himself to the limits, Mike is an endurance trail runner, cycling enthusiast and skier.

Since starting his running career in 2012, Mike has completed many half and full marathons before embarking on ultra running distances. Over recent years he has competed in the South Downs Way 50, Lakeland 100, OCC in Chamonix, French Alps as part of the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc series and most recently The Spine Race, Britain’s most brutal foot race taking in all 268 miles of the Pennine Way.

Mike knows all too well how combining a physically and mentally demanding career, with a very active lifestyle – and being a busy dad – can take its toll on the body. Mike has always believed in the power of massage to help his body, and therefore his mental health, to spring back to optimum performance. Having regular bodywork treatment himself over the years, has only but given him first-hand experience and understanding of the full benefits and relief gained from it.

But it was during rehabilitation after ankle surgery early in his running career that Mike experienced the true benefits of sports massage. His ongoing drive to keep fit and active was behind his desire to train in this area, launching Rebalance after Police retirement.

Mike gained Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (ITEC) at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. He has also qualified in sports taping and strapping at St Mary’s and recently completed his qualification in medical acupuncture at OMT Training, London.

Mike is extremely passionate about what he does in helping people to keep active and his regular clients are runners, rugby players, footballers, cyclists and triathletes. However you do not have to be an athlete to enjoy the benefits if Sports Massage Therapy.
